At Severnvale Academy, we believe in celebrating our team. Our dedicated teaching team takes time to understand each student’s individual needs and goals, creating a learning path that is perfectly suited to them. This personalised approach ensures that students are not just learning English, but thriving in their studies, gaining confidence, and developing practical language skills for outside the classroom.

We are a small, independent academy lead by husband and wife; Ed and Caroline Browne, since 2014. Before them Severnvale was founded by brothers John and James Rogers in 1982. The established history of Severnvale fits nicely into the history of Shrewsbury.

Meet more of the team:
Laurence, Director of Studies. He has been teaching at Severnvale Academy for over a decade and is a great source of information and encouragement. He leads a team of teachers who are all dedicated to our students improving their accuracy and vocabulary.

Angela, Deputy Director of Studies, has a broad and varied background, including a degree in law and experience supporting refugees in the UK. Angela, and the teaching team, will encourage students to stay motivated throughout their course and face challenges head on!

Naomi is the newest team member at Severnvale as Admissions Officer. After studying Modern Languages and living and teaching in Germany, she has firsthand knowledge of what is involved when learning a language. Naomi will guide you and your students throughout the enquiry and admissions process, all the way through to their course and beyond.

General Manager Stephanie is responsible for all accommodation and welfare needs. Whether that is staying with one of our homestay hosts, arranging a hotel stay or private accommodation, plus residential accommodation on our Young Learner Programme. Whatever your needs are Stephanie knows some of the best places to stay and go in Shrewsbury and will make sure students enjoy their time outside of the classroom!
