A once-in-a-lifetime experience! A few weeks ago, I went on a 3-day Garden Route tour, and it was nothing short of incredible. From spectacular scenery to close encounters with wildlife and exhilarating activities, everything one could imagine was on offer. It was the perfect combination of adventure, history, and the beauty of nature.
Early on a Friday morning, we made our way to the Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, passing through the beautiful Overberg region. Upon arriving at the game reserve, a game vehicle awaited us. This was my first safari, and undoubtedly, it won't be my last! Encountering African wildlife at such a close range is truly magical and special. We wrapped up the day in Sedgefield, a charming town nestled between the mountains and the Indian Ocean.
The following day, we continued our journey along the Garden Route while learning about the region's rich history. Tsitsikamma Nature's Valley, often referred to as the “adventure province”, certainly lived up to its name. We went on a scenic walk known as the Salt River trail, leading us to a lagoon where we took a refreshing swim to cool off. The best part was where we had the opportunity to zipline through the rainforest or take the plunge off the highest bungee bridge. Though I was initially scared at the edge of the bridge, I had the courage to jump, and it was absolutely exhilarating (in the best way possible).
On the last day, we began with a kayaking activity along the Kaaiman River, which ultimately led us to a hidden waterfall. It was the perfect way to kickstart the day! As we made our way back to Cape Town, we made a stop at the Garden Route Lodge to gain further insights into the ongoing wildlife conservation efforts.
Every day of the Garden Route trip was simply incredible. I cherished every second of it and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone eager to explore more of South Africa! A heartfelt thank you to IH Cape Town and Southernxplorer for making this unforgettable experience possible!
