Academic Summer has partnered with British Homes and Schools for Ukrainians, a non-profit CIC (Community Interest Company), to give Ukrainian students already in the UK and in the ‘Homes for Ukraine’ scheme a much-needed pick-me-up. In response to their upturned lives, this initiative is designed to help students settle into life in the UK, improve their English, grow in confidence and prepare for school in September.
Together Sidcot and Academic Summer have sponsored 5 places for Ukrainian students to join their programmes. However, they want to reach as many kids as possible so with the additional financial support of families already joining the camps, they hope to be able to offer more places.
Bookings are flooding in for the summer with over 50 different nationalities signed up. Students can choose from any of these fabulous camps: UK (London or Bristol), Germany, Switzerland, or Canada. For those nervous about the long-haul flight to Canada they are even offering a chaperoned flight to and from Heathrow.
Academic Summer knows that when it comes to getting the best results in learning it’s important to get the balance right between work and fun. That's why in addition to excursions, after the classroom, students will participate in elective activities and Be a Leader.
Be a Leader is a CPD accredited leadership course where students experience lecture-style learning and group activities designed to develop lifelong skills. It is a journey of self-discovery and challenges.
Elective afternoons allow students to choose their favourite activities so they are only ever doing something that excites them. Electives include arts and crafts, athletics, drama, English, food technology, games, horse-riding, outdoor learning and Get Ready for university -our outstanding elective which helps students gain a competitive advantage and pick up top tips to help get ready for university.
