A winter group from Ecuador studying at Converse International School of Languages has recently had the opportunity to volunteer at Father Joe's Village, preparing and serving food to the homeless.
It was an invaluable experience for the students, allowing them to develop their social awareness to local issues, and build confidence as a young person. The students enjoyed this experience, particularly as they realized that their smile and presence could make a difference in the lives of others. They enjoyed engaging meaningfully with others less fortunate than themselves.
While for many in the U.S., volunteering is commonplace, it was definitely a new opportunity for these students. Converse International School of Languages are hopeful they will continue their community service when they return home to Ecuador.
