According to the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training informed the federal government that VanWest College (Vancouver and Kelowna campuses) is approved to receive new international students with study permits for the school.
The decision to allow new international students to enter Canada is a decision by the Government of Canada, and the Province’s approval took effect when the Government of Canada published its updated list of approved DLIs on November 17th.
The students must have a valid study visa to be eligible to travel. Under the institution’s Education Quality Assurance (EQA) designation, VanWest College may be monitored for compliance with its plan and actions outlined to the Ministry, including that the plans remain publicly available on the school's website.
The international students must submit to the institution their travel and self-isolation plan in advance. The school offers accommodation services to support students during the 14 days of the quarantine, such as partner homestays and shared houses. Before departure from home countries, the students must fill the ArriveCAN form, mandatory to all travellers.
VanWest College opened its campuses to students at the end of June. The students have hybrid system classes at this moment. The in-person students are being monitored every day, checking fever and answer a questionnaire about COVID-19 symptoms.
