Specialised Pre-Sessional courses at Taunton School

Many students will have had a disrupted education this year; some students for many months. Not only will students have developed gaps in their knowledge but also in their study skills and habits.  The team at Taunton School have designed specialised Pre-Sessional courses to prepare International students for the start of the new academic year and to provide them with the confidence and the necessary skills to both enjoy and succeed in their learning. With 10 or 14 day options available, these courses are open to any International students aged 7 – 17, be they current or September starters at Taunton School, students starting at other UK boarding schools in September or those wanting to study on the course and return home afterwards.

All levels of English are welcome (CEFR levels A1- C2). Student will receive 15 hours of English teaching each week split into 10 hours of Academic English and 5 hours of English Enrichment chosen by the student, for example, Creative Writing, Debating, English for STEM and many more. In the afternoons, Junior students (ages 7 – 12) will receive an additional 2 hours each day of mixed activities such as Humanities or Sports Coaching and Senior students (ages 13 – 18) will receive an additional 2 hours a day building and developing valuable study skills.

The health and safety of both students and staff at Taunton School is paramount and we will be closely following guidance issued by Public Health England, the Department of Education and the British Boarding Schools Association.
