Step into Jane Austen’s world with Languages United

Did you know that 2025 marks the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth? The city of Bath, one of Austen’s novels' settings, is celebrating this milestone with a series of special events, including the annual Jane Austen Festival from 12th to 21st September. A highlight of the festival will be the Grand Regency Costumed Promenade, where hundreds of participants will take to the streets in traditional Regency attire, bringing history to life.

To join in the celebrations, Languages United is offering unique Jane Austen experiences for our students. During this period, 110 Italian students will take part in traditional Regency dance sessions led by expert Jane Austen dancers—a fun and immersive way to improve their English through movement and culture.

Alongside this, teachers from Croatia will be attending a specialised teacher training course, further enriching the educational offerings during this exciting time.

At StudyWorld Manchester, we started the promotion of this themed experience. As part of a collaborative project last year, students handcrafted Regency-style bonnets, which we proudly wore for photos with agents, to highlight the immersive cultural aspect of our programme. StudyWorld also gave us the chance to run a prize-winning competition, with generous prizes donated by the Jane Austen Centre in Bath. The lucky winner—a Chinese education agency—will now have the chance to experience the magic of Bath for themselves.
