Urte studied at Severnvale Academy for four weeks on a 35 lesson English course (including grammar and 1-to-1s). Here’s what she said: “I really liked all lessons and all teachers. I like the structured lessons; to learn something, to practise it in homework and to check and review it the next day. And I really appreciated how flexible the teacher reacted to [my] wishes. And of course, I liked the kindness of the teacher and how we laughed together in the lessons.”
As well as being focused in the classroom, she made the most of the landscape and historic features of Shropshire! One afternoon she went to Carding Mill Valley and hiked to the reservoir where there are exceptional views of the Shropshire Hills. As a group the students were able to climb Lord Hill’s Column; the tallest Doric column in England, built in 1814-1816 and stands at 40.7m tall.
Urte stayed with a Severnvale host for the duration of her stay. She commented; “I have been living in a nice room with a desk for the homework, with and arm chair for the relaxing, with tasty meals and a nice host. So the best conditions for studying.”
We are proud of our school’s heritage and family oriented feel. Led by husband and wife Ed and Caroline Browne, many of our staff have been here a long time. Urte certainly recognised the welcoming atmosphere: “I like the old building with the fireplaces and the welcoming entrance hall…. I felt welcome every morning in the coffee corner.”
Finally, Severnvale strives to give students and their agents the confidence that they will have a positive experience here. Urte’s biggest complement was her agent had recommended Severnvale; “From my last 3 language holidays, I must say he didn't exaggerate.” Thank You Urte!
